For this Kensington project, we designed and built a fully bespoke fitted wardrobe system that spans the entire wall, creating a seamless, high-end storage solution tailored to the client’s space.
The brief was to combine generous hidden storage with open display areas that would bring character and warmth to the room. The result is a beautifully balanced piece of fitted bedroom furniture that mixes classic painted cabinetry with modern timber and lighting features.
Full-Height Made-to-Measure Wardrobes
The installation includes three full-height double wardrobes, each offering a mix of hanging space, shelving, and soft-close drawers. Everything is made from scratch to precise measurements, ensuring the wardrobes sit perfectly flush with the walls and ceiling.
The doors and frames are hand-painted in Farrow & Ball ‘New White’, a soft magnolia shade that adds warmth and pairs wonderfully with natural wood tones.
Walnut Display Shelving With Acoustic-Panelled Backing
Between each wardrobe section, we built a feature shelving area crafted in solid hardwod with a walnut verneer, finished with Osmo 3232 to deepen the grain and enhance the timber’s natural variation.
Inside the back of each nook is American oak acoustic slat panelling, adding texture and a premium architectural feel.
The combination of the rich walnut, pale cabinetry, and slatted oak detailing creates a luxury hotel-style finish, distinctive, warm, and modern.
Integrated RGB LED Ribbon Lighting
Each shelving section includes RGB LED lighting, recessed neatly into the vertical edges.
This lighting:
- highlights the walnut grain beautifully
- adds soft, ambient glow to the room
- offers practical illumination for displaying items
- can be colour-matched to the room’s mood or décor
It’s a subtle detail, but one that makes the entire wall feel far more high-end.
Built for Storage, Style, and Flexibility
Although the wardrobes are the main storage element, the illuminated walnut recesses offer versatile use.
They can be used to display personal items, store folded clothing, showcase books or décor pieces, whatever suits the homeowner.
