For this outstanding project, we designed and built a completely bespoke Iroko pergola that transforms the garden into a versatile, high-end outdoor living space.
Why Iroko?
Iroko is a premium hardwood renowned for its durability, stability, and resistance to the elements. Often compared to teak, it’s an excellent choice for outdoor living projects as it weathers beautifully while retaining its strength. Its warm tones also add a natural richness that elevates any exterior setting.
A Dual-Purpose Outdoor Haven
The design brief was to create a structure that would serve two functions seamlessly:
- Outdoor kitchen and entertaining area – The pergola canopy provides shelter over a purpose-built outdoor kitchen, creating the perfect space for cooking and dining al fresco.
- Concealed workshop – On the opposite side, we integrated a custom-built storage section housing a pull-out workbench made from Beech. Mounted on casters, this sturdy bench can be rolled out whenever needed. A hydraulic, gas-strut-powered frontage lifts to reveal a fully functional workshop space in seconds.

Added Functionality
To maximise practicality, the workshop and storage areas were built with a solid roof structure lined in GRP, ensuring long-term weather protection and a clean, durable finish.
We also added an extra storage section, perfect for keeping outdoor essentials neatly tucked away.

For convenience, wired-in outdoor electrical sockets were installed, making the space ready for tools, appliances, or ambient lighting without the need for trailing extension cables.

Attention to Detail
Every element was handmade to the usual Leechcroft standards, with craftsmanship and practicality going hand in hand. From the slatted detailing of the pergola that filters natural light, to the flush cabinetry that conceals tools and equipment, the result is a space that is as functional as it is visually striking.

This project demonstrates how bespoke carpentry can completely redefine outdoor living — blending elegance, practicality, and timeless design.
