This elegant Chelsea home required a clever, space-saving storage solution that would complement the property’s open-plan hallway while providing maximum functionality.
The project centred around a custom-built understairs storage system, designed and handcrafted by the Leechcroft Carpentry team. With three smooth pull-out sections, each one offers a combination of deep drawers and accessible shelving, perfect for keeping shoes, bags, and household essentials neatly tucked away.
What made this design particularly unique was the exposed end of the staircase. Rather than leaving this as wasted space, we incorporated a full-height hallway cupboard, offering generous storage for coats, jackets, and larger items. The tall double doors feature subtle panel detailing to match the existing staircase design, maintaining the home’s clean, cohesive aesthetic.
Every element of this project was made to measure and finished by hand. The doors were fitted with high-quality soft-close mechanisms, and the cabinetry was finished in a durable satin paint for a crisp, timeless look that enhances the modern interior.
The result is a bespoke storage solution that blends seamlessly with the home’s architecture, transforming an awkward area into a practical yet beautifully finished feature.
