Making the Most of a Tricky Layout in a Small Bedroom
This fitted bedroom furniture project in Rye included a custom-built corner wardrobe and matching drawer unit, designed specifically to work around a structural beam that made off-the-shelf wardrobes unworkable. The client wanted to maximise space in what was already a small room, so a bespoke solution was the only way to achieve a seamless fit and clean finish.
The wardrobe was built right up to the beam with no wasted gaps. Inside, it features double hanging space, shelving, and push-to-open doors that keep the look minimal and modern. The drawer unit follows the same handleless style, with four spacious drawers topped with a made-to-measure glass panel. All drawers are also push-to-open for a streamlined appearance.
Both units are finished in Farrow & Ball Purbeck Stone, a soft, warm grey that works beautifully in natural light and pairs well with neutral décor.

As with many of our fitted wardrobes, the shelving is fixed, not adjustable, ensuring a stronger, more stable structure. From start to finish, the design was completely tailored to the client’s available space.
