A practical home office transformed with bespoke cabinetry, clever design and a beautifully coordinated finish.
Working from home deserves more than a desk squeezed into a spare room. For this project in Ebbsfleet Valley, Leechcroft Carpentry was commissioned to create a stylish, organised workspace that would accommodate the client’s existing office desk while introducing practical storage and a contemporary feature wall.
The result is a thoughtfully designed home office, combining bespoke fitted furniture with decorative acoustic slat panelling, all carefully planned to make the most of the available space.
Bespoke Office Furniture Designed Around the Room
Rather than replacing perfectly good furniture, we designed the new cabinetry around the client’s existing desk, taking precise measurements to ensure everything worked together.
The installation features overhead storage cupboards, open shelving and a floor-to-ceiling cabinet incorporating drawers and additional display space. The combination provides plenty of room for office essentials while keeping the overall design clean and uncluttered.
The cabinetry was finished in Farrow & Ball’s Tack Room Door, a warm, understated neutral that complements the natural timber tones of the acoustic wall panelling.
Clever Panelling That Conceals an Awkward Feature
One of the more interesting challenges involved an existing downpipe positioned in the corner of the room.
Rather than allowing it to interrupt the finished design, we carefully incorporated the pipe into the acoustic slat panelling. By maintaining the vertical rhythm of the timber slats and their dark recessed gaps, the pipe becomes far less noticeable, almost disappearing into the overall pattern.
It’s a subtle detail, but one that demonstrates the difference thoughtful planning and precise installation can make. What could have been an awkward feature now blends naturally into the finished wall.
The acoustic panelling also introduces warmth and texture, providing an attractive contrast to the smooth painted cabinetry.
A Home Office Built Around the Way You Work
The finished room offers a balance of practical storage, comfortable working space and contemporary design without feeling overcrowded.
Every element was planned around the client’s requirements, from the dimensions of the existing desk to the positioning of the cabinets and shelving.
At Leechcroft Carpentry, we believe bespoke furniture should adapt to your home and the way you use it, not the other way around.
Whether you’re creating a dedicated home office or transforming an unused room into a productive workspace, we design and build fitted furniture that makes every inch count.
