Seamlessly Integrating a Modern Extractor into an Existing Kitchen
This project in Sidcup involved designing and building a bespoke cooker hood housing to integrate a modern extractor fan into an existing fitted kitchen.
The challenge was to create a feature that looked original to the kitchen, despite being a retrofit installation. Off-the-shelf options were not suitable due to sizing and the unavailability of matching cabinet components.

Designed to Match – Without Being Identical
Rather than attempting an exact match with existing cabinetry, a carefully selected neutral tone was used to complement the kitchen as a whole. The housing was finished in Farrow & Ball Wimborne White, allowing it to sit naturally within the space without appearing out of place.
This approach ensured a subtle blend across the full run of units, avoiding the common issue of mismatched panels standing out.

Traditional Detailing with a Contemporary Fit
The extractor housing was designed with traditional moulded detailing to mirror the style of the surrounding shaker-style cabinetry. This added a sense of depth and craftsmanship, elevating what could otherwise be a purely functional feature.
All elements were made to measure, ensuring tight joins and consistent lines throughout the installation.

Fully Managed Installation – One Trade, Start to Finish
The extractor fan itself was installed by our in-house electrician, allowing the entire project to be completed without the need to coordinate multiple trades.
This streamlined approach is a key part of our bespoke carpentry service, giving clients a single point of contact and ensuring everything is delivered to the same standard.

The End Result
The finished installation provides a clean, integrated extractor solution that looks like it has always been part of the kitchen. The combination of thoughtful colour selection, precise joinery, and traditional detailing results in a feature that enhances the overall space.
