Bespoke Built-In Seating Designed Around a Bay Window
This project involved the design and installation of a fully bespoke built-in seating area within a bay window, transforming an underutilised space into a practical and visually seamless feature.
The aim was to create a clean, continuous form that followed the natural shape of the room, rather than relying on straight, segmented panels.
Creating Smooth Curves with Flexible MDF
A key feature of this installation is the curved front fascia, achieved using flexible MDF to form a smooth, flowing profile across the bay.
This approach allows for subtle shaping that would be difficult to achieve with traditional rigid materials, resulting in a far more refined finish. The gentle curve softens the overall look of the unit and better reflects the architecture of the window.
The project demonstrates the versatility of MDF when used correctly, particularly in situations where standard cabinetry techniques would fall short.

Seamless Integration with Existing Architecture
The seating was carefully built to align with the window cills, wall lines, and surrounding details, ensuring it feels like part of the original structure rather than an add-on.
Panel detailing was kept minimal and balanced to complement the shape without overcomplicating the design.

Finished in Farrow & Ball All White
The entire unit was finished in Farrow & Ball All White, providing a crisp, neutral tone that enhances natural light and keeps the space feeling open.
This finish works particularly well in bay areas, where light plays a big role in the overall feel of the room.
The End Result
The completed installation delivers a clean, elegant seating solution that maximises the usability of the bay window while maintaining a high-end finish.
The curved detailing adds a subtle level of craftsmanship that sets the piece apart, turning a simple seating area into a considered design feature.
